My first memory is of my family dressing me in a winter jacket and my father leading me outside into the cool of a fall night. I remember my mother looking on with love, the warmth of the hallway lights as we stepped outside, and I remember the camera in my father's hands.

"Stop here, son," he said, and I did. "Smile, Jim."

I already was. Flash! The sudden white light, the walk back to house, and dinner. A Christmas card.

Ever since that day I have been drawn to the camera - to what it can do. I take my profession very seriously - with passion and love. I know that you, like me, treasure a good photograph.

A good photographer captures a moment of time, seals it, and saves it to be treasured for a lifetime....and beyond. One of my favorite photographs is of my Grandmother in her teens. It shows a strength and a beauty in her that touches me every viewing.

On Location Portraiture is about the art of visual history, but my first goal as a photographer is to listen. I want to hear your concerns and desires before we ever load a roll of film into the camera. This involves a pre-consultation by appointment or phone about the choice of clothing, props, environment, and participants.

It's my job to make you or your child look their best and to capture an aspect of their personality that's worth a lifetime's interest.

I specialize in outdoor portraiture, and I find that many of the people I photograph feel more comfortable out of the studio environment. I have scouted scores of locations throughout the DFW Metroplex, finding some beautiful and unique areas to photograph. Because my focus is primarily on location photography, my location session fees are very reasonable (see Session Fees) and include the entrance fee for up to two people to parks like the Dallas Arboretum and Southfork Ranch.

My aim in the studio is very similar to my outdoor work: for families, couples, and children, I prefer natural poses and natural expressions with tasteful and realistic props and backgrounds, and for high school seniors and individuals I mix the former with the excitement of fashion-style photography. I also enjoy the occasional touch of whimsy in my portraiture.
